Project: Decorating The Place With Mosaic Tiles

Creating magic with an interior decorators’ work of art, within a limited space is not an easy thing to do. An intriguing task when you’re asked to show what you can produce, without sacrificing the aesthetic appearance of a given place.

Indisputably, a customized shower wall backsplash can enhance the value of your bathroom. The challenge we faced was a battle between – choosing the right design and finish, along with the colours available in mosaic tiles. It is all about choosing the ideal combination which perfectly adapts to the dimensions and character of the project space.

The Design

To have achieved the best decorative mosaic for our bathroom shower wall backsplash, our designer selected smaller mosaic tiles, resulting in a proportional design covering an area of 10SqFT, while avoiding client frustrations with the final sizing within the space available.

Furthermore, the selected mosaic tiles, fit well in combination with the ceramic tiles, floor marble and wall tiles used in the bathroom.

Instead of choosing pre manufactured tile patterns with a per piece cost, we recommended, and the designer opted to created a customized pattern of mosaic using water-jet cutting technology. In addition to achieving both the designer’s and client goals, we slashed the overall cost of the project per square meter while also providing a customized solution.

We aimed at using the same opalescent decorative mosaic tiles in the shower stall, creating continuity among floor, shower stall and the wall. Another inspiration behind choosing this pattern of the mosaic was pebbles on the floor that are not only slip-resistant, but also feel nice under the client’s feet.

We used decorative mosaic stripes over the shower stall with an intention of replacing the monotonous tile pattern, which exists in almost every bathroom. It looked impressive in wide vertical stripes all around the bathroom mirror, with contrasting corners.

The final visuals of gleaming slate coloured decorative mosaic tiles deserves a mention and add a luxurious touch while keeping the project on a tight budget.
